Write your Company Health and Safety Policy A company health and safety policy is a legal requirement if you employ more than four employees. It is a management system which spells out clearly, your commitment to health and safety and the legal requirements of the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974, detail of the organisational arrangements in place to manage your health and safety and arrangements adopted to ensure safe systems are followed. The Policy has to be tailored to your organisation, employees and risks; you cannot just copy a policy belonging to another organisation. |

Take on the role of your Competent Advisor - The
Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 require that
all employers have “a competent person or persons to look after their
health and safety undertakings”. For many small companies this can become an onerous duty if there is no one within the company or organisation that has these skills. Our expert advisors will take on this role initially, and gently support your key staff members, through training and advice, until they feel confident to take on these responsibilities on their own. As former Health and Safety Inspectors we would always advise our clients to take on ownership by managing there own risks eventually. During this initial period when undertaking the role as your ‘competent person’ should you be required to talk to a Health and Safety Inspector on matters relating to your companies health and safety whether through an accident investigation or an official notice being served, we will liaise, on your behalf with the inspector concerned. You can relax and be confident that your professional representative from A1 will be ensuring your interests are being supported professionally. |
